The Hague Agreement
It is an international agreement signed by Spain that allows us to register an industrial model in a series of countries in similar terms to those specified by the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office..
Unlike a pct or a European Patent, it is not a “global” instrument, but rather a registration which gives cover in a certain number of states.
As Spain has only signed one of the 1934 and 1960 Hague Agreements currently in force, the Hague registration means that your industrial model protection is applicable in France, Switzerland, Monaco, Liechtenstein, Hungary, Germany, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Indonesia, Benin, Cote d’Ivoir, Senegal and Surinam. If the product is to be marketed in any of these countries, its industrial model registration under the Hague Agreement may be more cost-effective than if it is registered in individual national registries.
